Get ready to race!

For those who are itching to get back on track – and who isn’t? – we thought we’d pass along a few news items, including a pair from our friends at Mazda Motorsports:

  • Don’t forget the Penskes! Spec Miata racers: if you haven’t already, you’ll want to upgrade to the new SM coil-over package from Penske Racing. We can help!
  • Lock it in. Our race schedule is really firming up – if you see it on the page, we’re going! The time to lock in your seat is now.
  • Get sociable. Did you know there’s a very active Mazda Grassroots Racing Facebook page? Sign up here. And while you’re at it, Like and Follow our page too!

Not long now!

It won’t be long now, friends! At both the National and Regional levels, SCCA and other sanctioning bodies are emerging from COVID-19 craziness to rejigger their schedules. We’ve been working on customer cars at the shop, ready (nay, eager!) to get back to the track.

As the 2020 season picture grows clearer, we will update our schedule. It looks like the green will truly fly starting in early to mid-June; for now, we suggest that if you want to rent or Arrive & Drive, you contact us to lock in a seat. Stay healthy!

Something’s in the air

Tyler Kicera catches air at the Glen’s Bus Stop Chicane during a 2017 Global MX-5 Cup race.

Can you feel it? We can. A subtle shift as the world rolls up its sleeves and prepares to reopen – with all due caution, and with sorrow for those who’ve been affected by COVID-19.

There will be racing this year, and Flatout Motorsports will be at the shop (hell, we never left!) and track, doing what we do best: tweaking cars and supporting racers. If you want to upgrade your race car for the coming (abbreviated) season, or if you want performance upgrades for your street wheels, contact us.

Open for business, rarin’ to go

COVID-19: We’re as bummed as you are, we’re taking it very seriously, we’re protecting our employees … and we’re open for business.

Like everybody in the racing community, we at Flatout Motorsports are in wait-and-see mode regarding the 2020 season. We remain dedicated to our customers’ success, so if you want to build, tune, or improve your street wheels or race car, contact us. And if you want to refocus on races later this season when, we all hope, the world will return to some semblance of normalcy, check out the schedule and give us a call to lock in a rental or Arrive & Drive seat!

Until then, enjoy some iRacing and stay safe, friends.

Ready to race, northeasterners?

At Flatout Motorsports, we love our Winter Series swing through the southeast and west coast. But hey, it’s March! While we’re still supporting clients at VIR and Road Atlanta for now, we’ll be back at old faves like Thompson, NHMS, NJMP, Palmer and the Glen before you know it.

Our stable of front-running rental cars continues to grow, and our crew members are more experienced than ever – but demand has skyrocketed. So whether you want to rent a ride or Arrive & Drive, for more info and to lock in your spot you can check out our schedule and contact us!

Leverone named Driver of the Year!

Hey, how about that! Flatout President Nick Leverone has just won the Driver of the Year Award from SCCA’s Northeast Division. We may be biased (yuh think?), but it seems like a great choice to us. Nick has been a formidable SCCA competitor for over a quarter-century, excelling at Solo, Pro Racing, and of course Club Racing. This all culminated in his 2019 Runoffs championship in the T4 class. Way to go, prez!

Spec MX-5: One-stop shopping

By now, most racers have heard about Spec MX-5, Mazda’s brilliant next step in the evolution of Miata racing. The program features several laudable facets: cars that can race with multiple sanctioning bodies; a factory-backed build kit and consumables; and a stout contingency program.

Our good friends at Mazda Motorsports have even created a single web page to serve as a repository for all the info you need – check out Spec MX-5: Just What’s Important to You.

Flatout Motorsports offered input and feedback to Mazda during the development of Spec MX-5, and naturally we will be deeply involved in this racing for the foreseeable future. Feel free to contact us to get a build started, or just to discuss this exciting program!

Podiums for Schubert at Homestead!

On a recent January weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway, hotshoe client and old friend Joe Schubert snagged a pair of podiums in the competitive STL class. Great drives, Joe!

And let this serve as a reminder to our many clients in the northeast: You don’t have to get your giggles snow-drifting around parking lots all winter. Check our schedule, contact us, and reserve a Winter Series seat at Sebring, COTA, VIR, and more!

2020 schedule – race all year!

Hey, click on the frosty customer above to check out our 2020 schedule – as usual, we’re everywhere, all the time! If you’re stuck in a cold place, pay special attention to our Winter Series. Sebring, Road Atlanta, and COTA are calling your name!

Spec MX-5 and Winter Series news!

Have you heard Mazda’s Spec-MX5 news? With its customary devotion to grassroots competitors, Mazda Motorsports has developed a racing package for third-generation (that is, NC) Miatas produced from 2006 to 2015.

Just as the NB Miatas were successfully introduced to club racing, we expect a smooth transition to the NCs. And thanks to our close relationship with Mazda Motorsports, we’re well on our way to developing cars already. Can we build one for you? Contact us!

In other news, we’re gearing up for our traditional Winter Series, in which we move operations away from frosty New England to support racers at Sebring, Daytona, Road Atlanta, VIR and more. As always, we’ll kick things off with a big presence at Sebring’s Turkey Trot, Nov. 29 – Dec. 1. Give us a call to escape those winter blues for some racing!
